Diploma In Make-up Artistry
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is for anyone interested in make-up in the media, theatrical and fashion industries. The course will cover cosmetic make-up, theatrical and medial make-up and some aspects of hairdressing and wigs.
The course is held at Hammersmith & West London College.
During a 15 week run-up to the 35mm project, the students attended masterclasses and workshops with industry experts Sarita Allison (Touching the Void), Suzanne Stokes Munton (Hotel Rwanda) and Branimir ‘Barney’ Nikolic (Harry Potter). On the 35mm project itself, Hammersmith students joined forces with students from the London College of Fashion under the tutelage of Debbie Taylor (The Matrix).
The course covers:
- Maintenance of Employment Standards
- Support of Health, Safety and Security in the work place
- Implementation of good working relationship with colleagues and clients
- Preparation for medial make-up
- Medial make-up
- TV Studies
- Removal of media make-up
- Application of hairdressing techniques for media make-up
- Provision of wigs and postiche for media make-up
- Product knowledge - use your make-up creativity to stunning effect in the entertainment industry
You will learn:

- Bald cap work
- Cuts & bruising
- Fashion & photographic make-up
AFTER THE COURSE
You will need to sit an external Health & Safety Examination, as well as producing a comprehensive portfolio of evidence.
